Massimo Buonanno was born in Egnach, Switzerland, and started playing drums at the age of 14. From an early age, he knew he wanted to pursue a career in music. Through motivation, discipline, and passion, he qualified for various music competitions and celebrated numerous successes. These include four first-place wins at the “Swiss National Drum Contest,” first place at the “Best European Musician Contest,” two first-place finishes at the “Drums & More Festival” in Austria, and winning the “Jeff Porcaro Tribute” Award in Germany.
At just 16, Massimo recorded his first solo album, The Rhythmind. Inspired and supported by his teachers and mentors, he performed with various bands in Switzerland and expanded his musical career to Germany, Austria, and Italy at an early age.
Massimo pursued his music studies in the USA from 2006 to 2011. He first studied at the “Drummer’s Collective” in New York City and later at the prestigious “Berklee College of Music” in Boston, where he received a full scholarship. There, he had the honor of learning from outstanding teachers such as Terry Lyn Carrington, Mark Walker, Jamey Haddad, Oscar Stagnaro, Mike Mangini, and Dave Fiuczynski. During his studies, Massimo performed at major events such as the “Singers Showcase Concerts” and had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned artists like Paula Cole, Rosa Passos, Burt Bacharach, and John Mayer.
As a drummer and musical director, Massimo has had the opportunity to perform live and in the studio with many well-known artists.
